Synthetic Fever is a solo exhibition by Xingyu Huang, organized by KehTing. Bringing together the moving-image works Sensing the More-than-Human: Emotional Landscape of Symbiosis and They Name the Sky After Stone, the exhibition examines environments shaped and sustained through maintenance, intervention, and technological mediation. Moving between microbial symbiosis under rising ocean temperatures and the material history of an abandoned paper mill, Huang considers how ecological processes are translated into data, image, and sound, and how systems of information remain entangled with material infrastructures and biological life. Presented within the domestic setting of alt projects, the works foreground forms of dependency, extraction, and maintenance that often remain imperceptible because they are embedded in everyday life.
