In Drift is a two-person show featuring painter Sangwon Lee and ceramic artist Masha Sheinina. Although Lee and Sheinina work in different media, both artists explore the human figure as something fluid and shifting. Through painting and ceramics, they look at moments when the body seems to move, blur, or change its shape. In their work, the human body is not presented as a static subject, but as one continually reconfigured by time, environment, and distance.

Lee paints crowds, yet he carefully captures the subtle gestures, postures, and rhythms of each individual. Figures appear slightly distorted, as if refracted through water or light, revealing how a subject can change from moment to moment. These indeterminate forms create space for viewers to infer and reconstruct the figure through their own perception.

In contrast, Sheinina’s ceramic works focus on singular figures. Marks from pushing, pressing, and scraping the clay remain visible on the surface, emphasizing the body not as a solidified sculpture but as something organic and alive with movement. The form does not settle into a fixed shape. Instead, it appears to clump together and melt apart, following the rhythm of the artist’s hand.

This exhibition highlights how both artists investigate bodies that are continually reshaped and redefined. Their works reveal how the body is sensed, altered, and rearticulated through incomplete moments shaped by movement, environment, and perception. In Drift follows these moments of motion, uncertainty, and re-formation.
